How I can stop the Department of Agriculture Cal spraying my house tomorrow?
I received a notification that the CDFA plans rental property to spray the morning with Tempo SC Ultra, a pyrethroid, and Merit 2F, an imidacloprid from a plague of Asian citrus psyllid in my neighborhood. I have seen no evidence of this insect in any place in or near my home. I am very sensitive to chemicals and do not want this poison spray near my house. I live in a very old building that has no real privacy. My house is surrounded by foliage and I'm sure the toxin to enter my home if aerosol. Do I have any recourse legal to reject the spraying? I have the intention of locking the security door to the physical property and block the entry of spray if necessary. Someone have any experience with something like this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated today. Thank you.
Given the threat to ACP countries citrus industry in California, I'd say you have no chance of a snowball that intervention by any level of local government. The following links detail the problem with this error and the devastating disease that takes and gives you the 411 on chemicals that are coming to spray. In general, pyrethroid pesticides are some of the less dangerous, but all chemicals must be applied strictly by the book that comes on all labels. The Merit 2F Soil is a treatment so it is likely to be in aerosol, poorly integrated. The REI [restricted entry] to Tempo is 12 hours. Keep your windows closed and stay in home or plan to be outside the property for 12 hours.
