Crime in Katy?
I moved to Katy, tx from a small town near Baton Rouge called Denham Springs. I cant help but to feel scared here most of the time – something I nvr felt before. I use to live without locking my doors to my house or car and we never heard much about crime…I dont know if the community wasnt aware of it or it just wasnt as bad but I read the yahoo katy crime watch group and other boards and I cant hardly sleep at night.
Is it really bad or am I just looking for it????
II am on a busy corner around Grand Prkway area,,,I already have a big dog, dead bolts, no gun yet (that scares me too)…I was going to get motion lights installed around the house..I dont know if an alarm is worth the price..what are some other things that help??
I havent even gotten a job yet b/c I am too afraid of my children (teenagers) being home alone and forgetting to keep doors locked and something happening…..
Anytime you live in a heavily populated area, you’re going to have to worry about crime. But, by worrying I just mean being aware of your surroundings and taking proper precautions–both of which, you’re already doing. So, just know that you’re doing what you can. Don’t worry yourself into such a tizzy, because you’ll be paranoid and miserable all the time. Yes, it’s possible to be the victim of crime anywhere, but it’s not worth worrying over. I’d get off the crime message boards if I were you. And just be smart about keeping yourself safe.
