‘Dream On’ Aerosmith sound-alike song? – something about throwing away a key, I think?

So this song had this resonant classic sound… i don’t really know how to describe it but it was like Dream On. I can’t remember the band name – I’ve scoured the internet for this thing. I think the band was pretty well-known.
Anyway, it was about how this guy finally wanted to be in a long-term relationship and all that… AND the lyrics said something about locking the cage or door or something and throwing away the key. Please help me!
